LAPD seeking suspect who shot and killed a 4-month-old puppy

The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for 32-year-old David Sumlin who is suspected of domestic violence that killed a 4-month-old puppy after getting into an argument with its owner. 

According to a press release, the LAPD said, "Sumlin held a pillow over the victim’s dog and pointed a firearm into the pillow." He allegedly told the victim “It’s either you or the dog.”

"Sumlin proceeded to fired [sic] two rounds into the pillow striking the 4-month-old puppy," the statement said. The puppy was taken by officers to a local animal shelter where it died from its injuries. 

Police note that Sumlin is known to frequent "the area of 7th Street and Stanford Avenue in the Downtown Los Angeles area." He is described as a six foot seven inches tall, 200-pound black male with black hair and brown eyes.

The firearm used in the incident was not recovered at the scene, and authorities are warning anyone who sees him to call 911 and not approach him. 

They are asking anyone with information into the incident to call Officer J. Roman directly at Operations-Central Bureau Family Justice Center (213) 709-9017. Calls can also be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247) or to the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) to remain anonymous.
