Republican lawmakers filed an appeal against the decision in Waukesha County that argued that Mitchell is disrupting the election process just months before the presidential election takes place in November.
A liberal Wisconsin judge has ruled that those who are self-report as disabled can request electronic ballots which they can download and use to cast their votes. This change could lead to election issues in the state leading up to this year's general election.
Judge Everett Mitchell, who also once said people who steal from big-box stores should not be prosecuted, made the controversial ruling last week and issued a temporary injunction that would cover the November 5 election. The injunction will allow electronic ballots to go to those who self-certify that they cannot read or complete a ballot without help. They will then be permitted to request an electronic ballot from their election centers, per the New York Post.
Those who request the ballots will complete them and send them back to election clerks to be counted. Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul's deputy attorney said that the change in the election law is likely to cause confusion and create security risks for the election. Before the decision from Michell, disabled voters would have had to go through the same process as an absentee voter would by requesting the ballot online, having it sent, and then filling it out and sending back the ballot.

The injunction also raises questions over election integrity concerns as those who fill out the electronic ballots need only self-report that they are reading disabled.
