Mamdani-supporting podcaster blasts NYC mayor after being doxed in public database of wealthy property owners

Left-wing podcaster and professor Scott Galloway criticized New York City socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani after he was doxed in the city’s publicly accessible database that includes the names and addresses of wealthy property owners.

Galloway was among those affected by the Mamdani administration’s decision to publish a searchable database identifying owners of non-primary residences that could be subject to the proposed pied-à-terre tax. According to a report by Fox News, a spokesperson for the department said the public release of the roll was required per state law.

Galloway criticized the move during an episode of his “Pivot” podcast with co-host Kara Swisher.

"I’ve been doxed,” he said. "I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Mayor Mamdani has decided to release a list of the 950,000 residences with addresses and names that might be eligible for his pied-à-terre tax."

Swisher chimed in to say she opposed the decision by the Mamdani administration, adding, "I can’t say I love this. It feels a little bit like doxing. Just tax them and get on with it is my feeling."

Galloway read the definition of doxing, which is "publishing private identifying information to expose someone to public pressure or harm without their consent.” While he agrees with the tax, he said that the list has essentially become a “wanted poster” for property owners.

"He’s taken a legitimate source of tax revenue, and he’s turning it into a wanted poster," Galloway said of Mamdani. "The question I would have is, other than trying to identify and imply these people have done something wrong — and then, 18 months after a healthcare CEO was executed in the street, published the list — what is the upside here? Why is he doing this?"

"He’s not only playing into the worst fears about him, but he’s making it harder for all progressives," he added. "I believe in a progressive tax structure. I believe we should raise tax rates. The Republicans, in order to create deficits and continue to transfer money from the poor to the rich, they argue that progressive tax structures are persecution. This plays exactly into that entire narrative."

Galloway later said that Mamdani is “implying we’ve done something wrong because we’re successful,” explaining that "New York is the last place you want to demonize success."

Galloway’s frustration with Mamdani over the move was met with mockery from those on the political right, who argue that Democrats may eventually regret voting for far-left candidates. Former Los Angeles Mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt responded on X to a clip of Galloway’s complaints, writing, “The communist refers to this person as the ‘useful idiot’. The gullible squish who foolishly supports the revolution, and only begins to understand his folly as he’s being lined up against the wall. If you think you’re safe from the commies cuz you vote blue, wake up.”
