Marwan Tabbara, the Kitchener South Hespeler MP who is now facing multiple charges following his arrest on April 10, is now labeled as an Independent on the Members of Parliament website.

Guelph police say Tabbara is being charged with a break and enter, assault, and criminal harassment, with a court appearance scheduled for June 19.

"I personally believe strongly in the right of every individual to live a life free of the hurt and trauma of physical, verbal or emotional abuse," said Tabbara in written statement. "I continue to receive counselling and treatment for anxiety and depression, which I have been living with for some time."

Charges for Tabbara were not released to the media, and a publication ban was put in place on details regarding his bail, according to National Post.

The National Post says that Tabbara is accused of breaking into a home in his riding that he had been stalking since January, making the female resident "fear for her safety."

The Prime Minister's Office says they learned of the charges on Friday, and are "looking into the matter."
