The family of child-killer Lindsay Clancy has raised over $500,000 after the fund was started by a TikToker who has been following the case. This comes as the TikToker and thousands of others do not believe that Clancy killed her own children even though she has confessed to doing so.
The "Musgrove Family Fund" has raised over $500,000 as of Saturday, with the top donation coming in at $5,000. The goal for the fund is $2 million. The TikToker who started the GoFundMe, Brandee Mulligan, said that she set up the fund and said that everything is going to Clancy's parents, and they will do with it "how they see fit."
The fund states, "Contributions will help cover the accumulated costs of travel, lodging, living expenses, and other family expenses arising from their continued support of Lindsay throughout her case. Mike and Paula are the named beneficiaries and direct recipients of the fundraiser through GoFundMe. The fund was established with their knowledge and consent, and Lindsay’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, is aware of it," it adds.
Over the course of the case, conspiracy theories, pushed by Mulligan on TikTok herself, have claimed that Clancy did not commit the crime. Some online have speculated that it was instead Clancy's ex-husband. This is despite the fact that Clancy admitted to killing her children.
Mulligan said in one of her videos, "There's things that don't add up, and all these people that are supporting this, we know it, there is something that doesn't ring true to this."
She added that witnesses said she was the "present parent" and a mother who would take her kids to all of their appointments. "I don't believe she did it," Mulligan said in the video, adding that Clancy was "failed" because she did not get help.
Clancy, although she has admitted to the killings, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, arguing that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and that she was overmedicated. Patrick Clancy, 39, has not been accused of any wrongdoing in court, but the same cannot be said of what has been taking place online.
Online scrutiny of Patrick has intensified, and some have accused him of failing to treat Lindsay's condition and that he is actually the one responsible for the killings. One relative of Patrick's told reporters recently about the allegations, saying, "The things that are going around right now are heinous. It has been really upsetting and damaging."
"Pat has always been the nicest, most supportive person ever. He loved his family, he loved his wife, and he did everything he could to support her, and this is just a really sad story," the relative added.
The jury in the case must determine if Lindsay was legally insane when the killings took place. If she is convicted of murder, she will go to prison. However, involuntary commitment to a psychiatric hospital may take place if the jury rules that she was not criminally responsible due to insanity.
Many comments on the GoFundMe page have included supportive statements about Lindsay Clancy. A user from London, Chan Emmerson, said, "Lindsay, we stand with you. Sooo many of us stand with you.
