A recent Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey released by The Hill shows that 64% of Americans are of the opinion that cancel culture threatens their freedom. The other 36% felt that this growing phenomenon was not a threat.

When asked what sort of problem cancel culture is, 36% answered that it is a "big problem" and 32% said "moderate", while 20% said "small", and 13% said "not a problem."

The poll shows that not only is cancel culture real, but that it is starting to affect regular people. This comes after a flurry of high-profile instances of cancelling in recent weeks which, for many, hit too close to home.

Victims of cancel culture often acknowledge that the companies and organizations that let them go are often not upset what with they did, but rather simply bowing to the pressures of the outrage mob. As recently fired talk-show host Piers Morgan puts it, his problem "is with the increasingly insidious woke cancel culture that’s now infesting all companies".

He states that "If allowed to continue unchecked, it will make it virtually impossible for anyone with an opinionated personality to survive in any workplace.”
