Nearly seventy percent of respondents to an online survey conduced by Leger and the Association for Canadian Studies say they support Trudeau's climate measures, which he announced during the COP26 summit in Scotland.

69 percent of respondents said they support measures that will cap the oil and gas industry, as well as measures to stop the use of coal.

Trudeau said that the aims of these measures were to help Canada reach net zero emissions by 2050.

Measures to stop the export of coal by 2030 will see Canada produce roughly 36 million tonnes of the resource, or about 60 percent of what the country produces, according to The Canadian Press.

Leger found that provinces that actually produce these resources, Alberta and Saskatchewan, saw lower levels of enthusiasm for the announcements.

Quebec and British Columbia saw higher levels of support.

Respondents were not as unanimous in deciding whether or not Canada's efforts to address climate change were sufficient, with half agreeing that Canada has taken great strides and 40 percent disagreeing.
