Mamdani fielded questions from the audience, such as “where can you get the best tacos,” before there was a heavy stream of unmoderated comments.

During socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's livestream on Twitch, he was bombarded with spam as well as sexually explicit comments in addition to pictures of male anatomy as the stream was going on. Mamdani had unfortunately not established a moderator for the stream, leading to heavy internet trolling.

The explicit comments took place as Mamdani was speaking to NYC TikToker Moose on the streaming platform, with the chat sidebar getting bombarded with comments drawing male anatomy as well as other inappropriate comments. The two fielded questions from the audience, such as “where can you get the best tacos,” before there was a heavy stream of unmoderated comments appearing on the right side of the stream.

One user posted a picture of an erect penis and wrote the caption, "Do you like what you see?" As the comments rolled in, Moose said that the users on the stream should keep the material PG. “Guys, to everyone spamming the chat, let’s try to keep it respectful, family-friendly,” he told the wave of internet trolls.

One of the users listed as a spectator was far-left streamer Hassan Piker, who streamed himself watching Mamdani's feed. The "Talk With The People" event was touted by the mayor as a way to "make City government more accessible, transparent and responsive by meeting New Yorkers where they already are: online."

The streams have been billed as a series of something akin to FDR's well-known fireside chats, as well as 1942 NYC Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia's "Talk to the People" chats.

“With the launch of ‘Talk with the People,’ we’re bringing City Hall directly to the platforms where New Yorkers already spend their time,” Mamdani said ahead of the stream launch. “By hosting the country’s first recurring cross-platform stream led by an elected official, where New Yorkers can ask questions live on Twitch, we’re opening up a new conversation between government and the people it serves, especially younger generations who have too often been ignored.”
