“Tax Them To The White Meat!!!”

New York City Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s new chief equity officer, Afua Atta-Mensah, is facing criticism for slamming white liberals after posts from a now-deactivated X account went viral after her appointment.

According to the New York Post, Atta-Mensah, who Mamdani praised as his most trusted pick to advance racial equity in City Hall, shared and amplified a series of inflammatory political statements, and her account was deleted within about a week of her appointment on Thursday.

Among the posts flagged by the New York Young Republicans Club critics were multiple comments disparaging liberal white women. In one exchange, Atta-Mensah replied approvingly to a tweet claiming, “we don’t talk about white liberal racism enough,” writing: “Facts! It would need to be a series of loooooonnnnnnnggggg conversations.”

She also reposted part of a thread asking, “Who’s not police but FEELS like police to you?” A reply she boosted called out “white women at nonprofit organizations.” In another post, she reacted enthusiastically to a tweet comparing some white women in nonprofit spaces to Amy Cooper, the woman who became known as “Central Park Karen” after calling police on a Black birdwatcher in 2020, responding: “THIS IS A WHOLE WORD!!!!”

Atta-Mensah also frequently used the term “comrade,” and amplified a statement declaring there is “NO moderate way to black liberation.” In a reply from 2021, Atta-Mensah echoed a “Succession”-inspired sentiment about taxing the wealthy “to the white meat.” She responded, “Tax Them To The White Meat!!!” with a clapping emoji.

In announcing Atta-Mensah’s appointment, Mamdani said: “There is no one I trust more to advance racial equity across our work in City Hall,” and described her as someone who has “dedicated her career to serving the New Yorkers who are so often forgotten in the halls of power.” Mamdani’s office told The Post it had not directed appointees to delete social media accounts.

The resurfaced posts come as Mamdani’s administration was already dealing with controversy around another appointee: tenant advocate Cea Weaver. Weaver called to “seize private property,” and described homeownership as “a weapon of white supremacy.” She also posted statements attacking policing. Mamdani defended Weaver after the criticism emerged.

“Zohran’s team tried to be more careful after the Cea Weaver disaster, but we caught Atta-Mensah before she could scrub her digital footprint,” said New York Young Republicans Club President Stefano Forte, who also accused the mayor’s inner circle of tolerating “anti-white racism” and framed Atta-Mensah’s posts as a symptom of the Mamdani administration’s approach.
