Authorities in California are looking for a suspect who stole $200,000 from a man last week after attacking him in a bank parking lot, according to ABC7 News.

Francisco Cornejo had his life savings taken from him when he was beaten after making a withdrawal at Chase Bank near Los Angeles.

Cornejo, who recently sold his home, said he withdrew all of his money from the bank before he was attacked.

"He was parked as closely as possible to the bank, knowing he was going to withdraw a large amount of cash. As soon as he got to his car, before he was able to get to his car, he was grabbed and beaten," said Cornejo’s attorney Nathan Soleimani.

"He was literally fighting for his life savings," Soleimani said. "And when he was being beaten, he was doing his best to try and retain the bag that he brought with him."

Investigators are looking over the bank's surveillance videos which show Cornejo laying on the ground as the suspect flees the scene.

A Chase Bank representative says the bank is working with authorities. The FBI is also looking for the suspect.

"Thank God he's alive. His family is grateful he got out of it with just the injuries that he has," said Soleimani. "At the end of the day, they're thankful for him being here."
