A man is dead after being shot multiple times while travelling on the subway in Brooklyn.

Fellow passengers said 45-year-old Richard Henderson was killed while attempting to intervene in an argument between two other riders over loud music onboard the train, however a suspect has not been identified.

According to PIX11, the incident took place shortly before 8:15pm on a Manhattan-bound 3 Train. When first responders intercepted the train at Franklin Avenue-Medgar Evers College Station in Crown Heights, they discovered Henderson with gunshot wounds to his back and shoulder.

He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after 9pm.

The New York Police Department has not yet released a description of the suspect, however as ABC7 reports, passengers said he fired at Henderson as the train pulled into the station before fleeing the scene.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
