Margaret Trudeau, mother of Prime Minister Justin and widow of Pierre, is in hospital after a fire in her Montreal apartment building Monday night.
She's expected to make a full recovery, according to CBC Radio-Canada.
Firefighters say the fire started at roughly 11:30 pm after a patio fire spread into the building in her downtown Montreal apartment.
Three families were forced to evacuate.
Trudeau is a well-known figure in Canadian pop culture of the 70s, and has taken her story to the stage on several occasions, including shows in Chicago and Montreal's world renouned Just For Laughs festival.
