The robot, known as Figure 03, appeared alongside Melania Trump as she prepared to meet with leaders from 45 countries and representatives from 28 technology organizations. It delivered short remarks and greeted attendees in their native languages, organizers said.
“It’s fair to state you’re my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House,” Melania said before beginning the session.
The summit is centered on expanding access to education and technology for children worldwide. According to the White House, it marks the first time a US first lady has hosted representatives from 45 nations at the White House in a single day.
During the event with, among others, French First Lady Brigitte Macron, a male voice was used for overdub translations of the leaders' remarks.
Officials described the gathering as part of a broader initiative to build cooperation between governments and technology groups. The administration called it “a global coalition of nations aligned to empower children through education and technology.”
The event builds on the First Lady Trump’s Fostering the Future initiative, which focuses on youth development and support systems.
Leaders participating in the summit are expected to discuss partnerships and strategies aimed at improving access to educational resources.
On Tuesday, during the summit’s opening session, Melania outlined the initiative’s goals and called for coordinated global action. “As people, we dream. As leaders, we progress. As nations, we will build,” she said. “Beginning today, let’s accelerate our new global alliance, this bond, to positively impact the progress of our children.”
The initiative also ties into a policy effort announced last year. Melania joined President Donald Trump in signing an executive order aimed at increasing resources for teenagers in the foster care system.
“This executive order gives me tremendous pride. It is both empathetic and strategic,” she said at the time. “I predict this small spark today will ignite a profound and lasting nationwide movement.”
