Former Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday said the White House must do more to help calm things amid civil unrest caused by the recent Supreme Court document leak.
The document, which was recently made public, indicates the country's chief judicial body is ready to strike down the long-standing Roe vs. Wade verdict, which legalized abortion countrywide in 1973.
Pence told the Daily Wire, "President Biden should speak out forcefully, make it clear that those who support his view on abortion, on the Supreme Court, let their voice be heard, but heard peacefully and respect the law."
"The president of the United States is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States of America, and he ought to make it very, very clear that anyone who would engage in violence or threaten violence or disrupt religious services would be held to the strictest account," he said.
Outgoing White House Press Secretary Jenn Psaki has refused to condemn plans by abortion activists to protest at homes of SCOTUS justices.
"I don’t accept that," Pence said of Psaki's response.
"Americans can be passionate without breaking the law. And there’s no excuse for violence against persons or property in the name of any political causes."
There have been reports of recent and planned protests at Catholic churches all over the nation. As well, abortion advocates are planning to protest outside the homes of Supreme Court justices.
