Mizzou student shows up in 'bloodied' Freedom shirt to mock Charlie Kirk’s assassination at TPUSA tabling event

An individual at the University of Missouri mocked Charlie Kirk’s assassination during a Turning Point USA “Pick Up the Mic” event Wednesday, wearing a bloodied shirt resembling the one Kirk wore when he was killed. The presumed student approached the TPUSA table and appeared to make fun of Kirk’s comments he made about the Second Amendment prior to his death.

TPUSA held a “Prove Me Wrong” tabling event at the university as part of its “Pick Up the Mic” series, which mirrors Kirk’s popular format of visiting college campuses and speaking to students. During Wednesday’s event, a student wearing a white “Freedom” T-shirt similar to one Kirk wore before he was killed approached the microphone. The shirt had a red stain on the left side to imitate the location where Kirk was shot in the neck.

The student sarcastically told TPUSA debater and Afghanistan War veteran Shane Winnings, “It is worth it to have a couple gun deaths every couple years in order to keep our Second Amendment right.” The comment referenced Kirk’s previous remarks about gun violence, in which Kirk noted that some people’s abuse of the Second Amendment is not grounds to remove that right from law-abiding citizens.

Winnings responded to the student by saying, “I agree.” The student continued by saying, “Excellent. That’s all I had to say. That’s what Charlie Kirk had to say and he died by his word.”

Winnings then said, “What’s brave is when people believe something and they die for it, and they wouldn’t have changed their opinion. That’s called a conviction, and I pray that you find out what that means one day.”

The exchange was later shared on social media by TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet, who wrote, “We are in a spiritual war.”

Kirk was assassinated last year while participating in one of his campus debates at Utah Valley University. Since his death, there have been numerous instances in which left-wing activists have applauded and mocked his murder, including a TikTok trend in which young women used audio from the shooting as part of outfit-change videos.

TPUSA Frontlines reporter Bo Dittle recently shared an interview with a man who mocked Kirk’s death by holding a water bottle and spraying water from his neck.

“You eventually run out of words to describe just how disgusting these interaction are,” Kolvet wrote on X in a separate post. “There are far more leftists than most of us are comfortable admitting that want conservatives dead and remain steadfastly happy that Charlie was murdered in cold blood. Lord save us.”

Despite mockery and hatred from the left, TPUSA has seen a massive increase in support since Kirk’s murder. At the University of Missouri, TPUSA Chapter President Paige Schulte reported that membership in the college’s chapter increased from just 30 to 200 following Kirk’s death.

"It's a great movement, it's a great opportunity, and it's a great experience to spread Charlie's word, to spread Jesus's word, to be with like-minded Christians and conservatives on your campus," Schulte said, according to KOMU.
