MSNBC's Joy Reid spreads 'vaccine trutherism' on Twitter

Joy Reid, the host of "The Reid Out", a show that airs five times a week at prime time on MSNBC, tweeted things that critics are saying amount to the same 'vaccine trutherism' that gets censored when someone else makes the same point.

"I too am one vax down, but even when I get the second shot, I am too “scurred” to be out there wildin'. No flying and no indoor activities for me. Nope! #TheSundayShow"

"And we double mask in our family — the hospital style one with a cute cloth one on top. Will still be doing that for the foreseeable future. Here’s my fun @thereidout mask!"

More than one prominent person on social media had a lot to say about how Reid seemed to magically bypass Big Tech censorship to get her point across:

"MSNBC hosts dropping vaccine skepticism on Twitter is no big like asking for a glass of water," says the tweet.

The above twitter user then replied to a person asking why it was a such a problem for Reid and her family to be so cautious, pointing out the obvious:

"They are vaccinated."

Another user asked essentially the same thing:

"I don’t see how this is different than vaccine trutherism."

Yet another person elaborated more on the point, also pointing out that posts like this won't help much with "vaccine hesitancy":

"Joy and her family are fully vaccinated, but she's flaunting her double masking and insisting we shouldn't be able to do much of anything?! The vaccine hesitancy won't improve with people like this. For where it's required and if you're fully vaccinated (and it's taken affect), you don't really need to double mask or go N95. A simple cloth should be good!"

Finally, yet another user made a simple but poignant joke:

"Tell me you’re a lib without telling me you’re a lib."

The truth is that, while the vaccines given out all over the world usually come in two doses, and that the vaccine reaches peak effectiveness on average a few weeks after the last dose, vaccines are effective in stopping the spread of the coronavirus. Reid, and also CNN, apparently haven't gotten the memo:

"A CNN explainer on flying safely claims that a 90% effective vaccine means that out of 1 million travelers, 100k can still get infected. This is ridiculously wrong and yet has been up for 2 days without correction."
