Last week, authorities announced the arrests of two 17-year-old suspects, now identified as Kelvin Thomas Jr. and Jailen Lucas.
Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, a University of Massachusetts Amherst student interning for Republican Rep. Ron Estes of Kansas, was gunned down in Northwest Washington, DC, on June 30. Police said the attack occurred at about 10:28 pm when suspects opened fire on him and two others, a 16-year-old male and an adult woman. Investigators later determined the shooting was targeted, but the intern was not the intended victim, according to ABC News.

“Investigators are still searching for another suspect, 18-year-old Naqwan Antonio Lucas, who also faces a charge of first-degree murder while armed,” KFOX TV reported.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed the teenage defendants will be tried as adults.
