On Friday's episode of the Fox News show Gutfeld, host Greg Gutfeld left the audience and guests stunned when he used former Fox News host Tucker Carlson as an example of a man who was censored by "special interest in cahoots with political allies."

In the clip, Gutfeld says that X owner Elon Musk "may be the last man standing between real freedom of speech and the suffocating block of the censorship industrial complex which is made up of government, media, and tech forces."

"He realizes that advertisers have no spine and can be easily cowed by a special interest in cahoots with political allies," Gutfeld said. "If you don't believe me, I got two words for ya. Tucker Carlson."

The statement was followed by silence, nervous laughter, and eventually a guest just saying "Wow." Gutfeld acknowledged the shock of the audience guest by saying, "Look at that, huh."

In April, it was announced that Tucker Carlson was leaving his position as the network's prime-time host just a week after the network settled a $787 million lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems.

Later, O'Keefe Media Group released an undercover video of a Fox producer, Sean Langille, saying that Carlson "did things that cost [the company] a lot of money," seemingly to refer to advertising revenue. "When it’s corporate media you’re beholden to advertisers ... we take money from Pfizer," he noted.

On Wednesday, at the New York Times Dealbook Summit, Musk told advertisers who were participating in a mass boycott of X "Go f*ck yourself." He noted that he could not be "blackmailed with money."

Advertisers started to withdraw money from the platform after Media Matters published a hit piece on Musk claiming he is antisemitic after he would not censor various users due to his self-stated dedication to free speech.
