A Turning Point USA staffer was attacked by demonstrators waving Palestinian flags in a town just outside Chicago on Sunday. The Illinois, Missouri, and NW Indiana high school rep was punched, kicked, and hit with a flagpole while trying to escort an elderly Jewish couple through a counterprotest following a pro-Israel rally.

The attack is just the latest in a string of similar incidents that have taken place at anti-Israel rallies across the US and around the globe.

Footage of the incident, which took place following a pro-Israel rally at the Ateres Ayala event space on Touhy Avenue in Skokie, shows Christos being pulled into the mob of Palestinian flag-waving demonstrators before being pushed into a bush and beaten.

"Why would you do that?" a female in the crowd asks the alleged attackers as Christos is rescued by police and rushed away from the scene.

Another angle shows two men on top of Christos punching him repeatedly while another hits him with a flag pole.

The reaction from the crowd was mixed. While some cheered the attackers on, others screamed in horror and tried to pull the men off of Christos.

While being attacked, Christos managed to keep his phone recording and capture his point of view.

Following the incident, TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk corrected previous reporting that suggested Christos was Jewish, and confirmed that he was "violently attacked while he and another TPUSA staffer were trying to escort an elderly Jewish couple away from a pro-Israel rally."

"On the way to their cars," he explained, "they encountered pro-Hamas supporters who assaulted them, punched them repeatedly, and hit them with a flag pole before cops could pull them away to safety."

"All of these thugs need to be arrested and charged with hate crimes," he concluded.

Skokie police have not publicly revealed whether anyone involved has been apprehended.
