Crime is so rampant in Seattle that while covering the New Year’s Eve fireworks at the Space Needle, a local NBC affiliate’s van was graffitied along with two other vehicles.

KING 5 photojournalist and editor Diane Lewis posted on Twitter a photo of the vandalism in progress and wrote, ”Feeling bummed out about having our KING live truck vandalized with graffiti just after New Year’s at the fireworks show. It was such a nice show but the hoodlum ruined the mood for me and the engineer. If Anybody can help identify him that would be great.”

After the outlet was accused of running cover for left-wing policies and candidates who contributed to the state of lawlessness in the city, the post was deleted.

The outlet was recently called out on social media after one of their cameramen refused to help a journalist from another outlet after she was attacked by Antifa.

It's not just vandalism. Violent crime in Seattle soared in 2022 with fatal shootings jumping by over 20 percent, according to the Seattle Police Crime Dashboard.

Data from the Seattle Police Department revealed a 23 percent increase in shooting death citywide in 2022, with the most happening in the Chinatown-International district.

According to the dashboard, there were 151 non-deadly shootings reported through November 2022, 25 more than in 2021.

Other data sources show the figures to be even higher. The increase contributed to Washington state's record 373 homicides in 2022.

2023 picked up where 2022 ended as Seattle police are investigating three separate shootings on New Year's Eve, including one in Chinatown.

Seattle police are short over 400 officers since the Seattle City Council began defunding the department in 2020 in response to the riots that rocked the city following the death of George Floyd.
