New Democrat leader Jagmeet Singh partially praised US President Donald Trump's speedy action on addressing systemic inequality in the US, while also equally bashing current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's sluggishness.

At a press conference on Friday, Singh criticized the prime minister for taking a knee, yet not acting in any significant way to address Canada's problems with systemic discrimination.

"In Canada, we have not seen any action. Prime Minister [Trudeau] took a knee, but didn't bring any policy changes. In the [United States] they moved quicker on some policy changes than even Canada. We think Canada's a progressive country," said Singh, highlighting that President Trump moved forward with an executive order on policing.

"I am committed to working with Congress on additional measures," the president said. "Hopefully they will all get together and come up with a solution that goes even beyond what we’re signing today.”
