Musician Neil Young announced that his music is back on Spotify following an ultimatum over sharing a platform with Joe Rogan.

Young threatened to remove his songs from Spotify in 2022 if Joe Rogan—the most well-known podcaster in America—wasn't removed from the platform due to claims that Rogan had disseminated false information about COVID-19.

The 78-year-old rocker announced on Wednesday that he has returned to Spotify. He said the decision was made due to other streaming platforms such as Apple and Amazon now distributing Rogan's podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

"My decision comes as music services Apple and Amazon have started serving the same disinformation podcast features I opposed at SPOTIFY,” Young wrote on his website without naming Rogan's podcast, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

"I cannot just leave Apple and Amazon, like I did Spotify, because my music would have very little streaming outlet to music lovers at all, so I have returned to Spotify," wrote Young.

In January 2022, Young stated that Spotify accounted for 60 percent of his worldwide streaming income, meaning that it was "a huge loss for [his] record company to absorb." Nevertheless, he went ahead and deleted his music because he "could not continue to support Spotify's life-threatening misinformation to the music loving public."

The musician continued, taking a dig at Spotify's "low res" sound quality, which he stated that he hopes will get better and that "people will be able to hear and feel all the music as we made it" upon his return.

In February, Joe Rogan struck a new $250 million deal with Spotify.
