Drag Queen “Shangela,” who was invited by Kamala Harris to be the first drag queen at her residence for a pride event, invited to the White House, and also invited by President Joe Biden to attend the signing of the Respect for Marriage Act, has been accused of multiple sexual assaults.

According to a report from Rolling Stone, the drag performer was one of RuPaul’s Drag Race’s most well-known contestants. "Shangela" has also appeared on the show "We're Here," which would visit small towns such in red areas such as St. George, Utah

The performer, whose real name is Darius Pierce, 43, has been accused by four people of sexual assault or attempting to have sex with them when they were drunk to be able to consent. A fifth person alleges that Pierce attempted to anally penetrate them in a bathroom closet despite rejecting his advances.

In a letter to the outlet, Pierce's lawyer labeled the allegations as “false and unsupported by any evidence or reliable witness testimony" and that there were "significant problems with [the] purported accusers’ accounts.”

The investigation into the accusations began in November 2022.

In an Instagram post, Pierce is pictured at the White House for the signing of the Respect for Marriage Act with Harris. Pierce also took video of Biden signing the bill.

An invite in the same post is addressed to the drag performer.
