A "hot mic" video showing Fox News’ John Roberts and New York Times photographer Doug Mills talking about the coronavirus pandemic in the White House briefing room has gone viral online.

“What do you know, buddy?” Mills says to Roberts.

Roberts responds: “You can take off the mask, the case fatality rate is 0.1 to 0.3 according to USC.”

Mills, apparently joking, says “We’ve all been vaccinated around here.”

“USC and LA County public health came out with a study that found that there are 7,000 cases in California but they really believe there are anywhere from 221,000 to 442,000 people who are infected,” Roberts said.

The study Roberts cites suggests that there may be 28 to 55 times more cases in California than the 7,994 confirmed cases.

Mediaite was the first to report on the now viral video and identity Mills. The video has since been shared by Joe Rogan and other media personalities.

Some on social media have insisted that the video might be faked; others are insisting that Mills was not joking.
