"Chuck Schumer must follow due process and hold a trial in the Senate," Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote.
The process will soon move to the Democrat-led Senate, where some predict lawmakers will seek to dismiss the charges.
"The House passed my impeachment articles against Secretary Mayorkas for his blatant violation of America's border security laws," Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote in a post on X. "Chuck Schumer must follow due process and hold a trial in the Senate!!"
Citing reporting from Axios that, according to sources familiar with proceedings, Democrats in the Senate will "move to dismiss" the charges and "skip a full trial," Sen. Josh Hawley his colleagues across the aisle simply wanted to "ignore the Mayorkas impeachment to cover up the crime of their open border."
When pressed on whether his party would try to dismiss the charges, Schumer said, they would "try to resolve this issue as quickly as impossible."
"Impeachment," he added, "should never be used to settle policy disagreements."
Schumer called the whole thing "absurd," and claimed there were "no charges in the House complaint that rise to the level of impeachment."
Mayorkas has been accused of having "repeatedly violated laws enacted by Congress regarding immigration and border security" and having "made false statements to Congress" that the border is secure.
"I assure you," the DHS Secretary wrote in response, "that your false accusations do not rattle me and do not divert me from the law enforcement and broader public service mission to which I have devoted most of my career and to which I remain devoted."
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
