Vice President Kamala Harris has agreed to a second debate with GOP nominee Donald Trump on CNN after she refused to do one on Fox News with him earlier in September. The CNN debate would take place on Oct. 23 if agreed upon by the candidates.

Harris posted on her social media in response to CNN host Kaitlan Collins announcing the invite. "I will gladly accept a second presidential debate on October 23," Harrs said. "I hope Donald Trump will join me."

The invite from CNN and Harris' acceptance comes after Trump agreed to debate the VP in Pennsylvania on Sept. 4 with Fox News. Harris refused to do so and previously agreed to only the ABC News debate before now accepting the invite from CNN.

After the debate on ABC, many were critical of moderators David Muir as well as Linsey Daivs for appearing to be biased against the GOP nominee, fact-checking him repeatedly without pushing back on Harris, despite the vice president repeating multiple false statements and hoaxes about Trump. In a post-debate poll, 41 percent of independents believed that the ABC moderators were biased against the GOP nominee while only two percent said the same for Harris.

According to The Hill, a CNN spokesperson said that the outlet "believe[s] the American people would benefit from a second debate between the two candidates.” CNN reported that the debate format would mirror the rules of the first debate that took place between Trump and Biden at CNN's studio in Atlanta, Georgia.
