Amidst heightened scrutiny of President Joe Biden and his mental capabilities, Vice President Kamala Harris told reporters that she is "ready to serve."

According to a Monday report from the Wall Street Journal, Harris told the outlet, “I am ready to serve. There’s no question about that," when she was asked about the concerns regarding Biden's age and decline.

The response came during an interview last Tuesday just a few days before the news of Special Counsel Robert Hur's report on Biden’s classified documents case broke in the news.

Jennifer Palmieri, who worked under the Obama and Clinton presidencies said, “There was always going to be a lot of scrutiny and pressure on her in the 2024 campaign, and that moment’s here now."

“I think that the special counsel’s report has sort of accelerated that moment.”

The case report detailed that Hur declined from prosecuting the president in part because of evidence pointing to Biden’s lack of mental acuity.

"We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory," the report from Hur stated.

The report also revealed that during an interview with Hur's office, Biden had trouble recalling when he was vice president as well as when his son Beau Biden passed away.

Last week, after the revelations about the president's mental abilities, several GOP lawmakers called on the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendement to remove him from the office.
