The administration is expected to fire dozens of FBI agent by the end of the day on Friday.
According to CNN, the Trump administration will be firing dozens of FBI agents as well as their supervisors who directed the investigations. The outlet reported that there have been many agents fearing for their jobs since Trump took office, after he has called to curb the "deep state" in the Justice Department.
Trump has moved to deliver on that promise to “clean house” from the campaign trail. This comes after multiple FBI executives that were appointed by former FBI Director Wray were told on Thursday that they would need to resign or be fired.
Other officials in the DOJ that participated in the investigations into Trump were fired earlier this week, these included those that worked with former Special Counsel Jack Smith, who resigned before Trump took office.
Trump was under investigation and accused in two cases by Smith and the Biden DOJ. These included a case accusing Trump of withholding classified documents - something that Biden was found to also do but was not prosecuted for – as well as interfering in the election of Joe Biden. Both cases were dismissed before Trump was inaugurated.
There were numerous cases of J6 defendant that the FBI as well as the DOJ worked on in the lead up to Trump’s election. However, Trump issued pardons to over 1,500 defendants who were involved in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021 upon taking office.
