Donald Trump announced on Monday that he was working with Elon Musk to get Starlink internet connected in order to help those in need of communication services in Georgia and other locations ravaged by Hurricane Helene.

While speaking in Valdosta, Georgia, Trump told those present, “I just spoke to Elon. We want to get Starlink hooked up because they have no communication whatsoever and Elon will always come through.”

"We're going to try and get the Starlink in there as soon as possible because they have no communication," Trump added. "And throughout the region, our hearts are with you, and we are going to be with you as long as you need. You're in our prayers, and we pray to God, and throughout these long weeks, the long weeks that lay ahead. You're going to have a lot of work, but the end result is it's going to be good."

In addition to working with Musk to get Starlink set up for those impacted by the storm, Trump has coordinated with Franklin Graham, the eldest son of Billy Graham, to distribute food, water, and other supplies in the region with Graham's organization, Samaritan's Purse.

"We're here today to stand in complete solidarity with the people of Georgia, with all of the suffering and the terrible aftermath of Hurricane Helene," Trump told those in Georgia. The GOP nominee also paused for a moment of silence in order to pay respects to those who have lost their lives from the hurricane.

As Trump made the announcement down in Georgia, Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall told reporters that the government will be helping to restore communications capabilities in the region, adding, "Today FEMA will install 30 Starlink receivers in western North Carolina to provide immediate connectivity for those in greatest need."
