"The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it."

In the wake of President Donald Trump saying he was "disappointed" in Elon Musk after the entrepreneur criticized the "Big, Beautiful Bill" working its way through Congress, he suggested that Musk's government subsidies and contracts could be canceled to save money in the budget.

"The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it," Trump wrote.

He added in a separate post, "Elon was 'wearing thin,' I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!"

Earlier in the day, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore." He added, "He knew the inner workings of the bill better than anybody sitting here... He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem and he only developed the problem when he found out we're going to have to cut the EV mandate."

Musk had posted earlier in the week, "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it." He continued to sound the alarm over spending after coming out against the bill and said that the bill should not increase the federal deficit.
