CNN ‘fact check’ attempts to discredit Biden impeachment inquiry but instead confirms its merit

When trying to discredit House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's claims that the Biden family and their associates have received more than $20 million from shell companies as misleading, the network confirmed the Republican Speaker's comments.

The network writes:

"Claim: Biden family and associates got $20 million through shell companies 'Bank records show that nearly $20 million in payments were directed to the Biden family members and associates through various shell companies,' McCarthy said.

"Facts First: This is true about Joe Biden's family and associates, but there is no public evidence to date that the president personally received any money."

In August, the House Oversight Committee revealed that they "identified $20 million in payments from foreign sources to the Bidens and their associates" and that Hunter Biden sold Vice President Joe Biden's influence as 'the brand.'"

The Oversight Committee alleged that several foreign oligarchs in countries such as Russia and Ukraine sent millions of dollars to shell companies associated with Hunter Biden and his business partner at the time, Devon Archer.

In one transaction in 2014, "Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina wired $3.5M to a shell company associated with Hunter Biden & Devon Archer."

While recently testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, Archer said that Hunter had used his father's position to "legally" intimidate those that he worked with.

In addition to Russia and Ukraine, an oligarch from Kazakhstan, Kenes Rakishev, wired the exact amount of money to an account that would have paid for President Biden's sports car.

The next day, a purchase for the car was made. The full report on the findings marks this as a "bribery payment" noting that "the law recognizes payments to family members to corruptly influence others can constitute a bribe."

The amount of money that came from the several oligarchs totaled over $20 million and flowed into several different accounts associated with the Biden family.

On Tuesday, Speaker McCarthy called for an impeachment inquiry into President Biden over influence peddling, shady business deals, and alleged bribery.
