CNN relied on Dan Goldman’s lies to discredit Devon Archer

CNN used Goldman's assertion to attempt to discredit Archers' testimony. But it was Goldman, not Archer, who used the phrase "illusion of access." And Archer did not confirm that this was the case.

Goldman, who appears to be acting as a defense attorney for Joe Biden in Congress, questioned Archer, asking "So is it fair to say that Hunter Biden was selling the illusion of access to his father?"

"Yes," Archer said.

"So when you talk about selling the brand—" Goldman alleged, "it's not about selling access to his father. It's about selling the illusion of access to his father. Is that fair?"

"Is that fair?" Archer replied. "I mean, yeah, that is—I think that's—almost fair."

"Almost fair?" Goldman pressed. "Why almost fair?"

"Because there—there is—there are touch points and contact points that I can't deny that happened, but nothing of material was discussed. But I can't go on record saying that there was—there was communications," Archer said.

He testified that Hunter and his father spoke daily.

CNN further claimed that "Archer provided no evidence connecting President Joe Biden to any of his son’s foreign business dealings." Yet Archer's testimony clearly revealed that Joe Biden, while VP, attended some 20 of Hunter's business meetings, either calling in or being called on speakerphone.

These included meetings with both Hunter's Ukrainian business associates at energy company Burisma, as well as with Chinese business partners.

Yet CNN, who relied on Goldman, ran with the idea that there was "a lack of evidence connecting the president to his son's foreign dealings. Goldman said Archer told the panel that Hunter Biden did put his father on speaker phone in the presence of business partners, but that business was never discussed."

Archer, who has not been given immunity as regards his testimony, did not give details as to the content of the phone calls in which Biden spoke to his son on speakerphone in the middle of his business meetings. He said he did not recall, and that pleasantries were exchanged.

What was being supplied to Hunter Biden's business meetings with the introduction of his father was the availability, Archer said, of the Biden "brand." Making deals with Hunter offered access to the vast power wielded by Joe Biden.

It's absolutely absurd to believe that VP Joe Biden would call in to Hunter Biden's business meetings, or be called by his son in the middle of meetings, just to shoot the breeze. If the two spoke every day, as Archer testified, then likely they could have touched base at any point, and did not have to discuss the weather, or exchange pleasantries, while Hunter was engaged at work.
