Obama flip-flops on Cheesecake Factory, now claims it's his 'jam'

Obama's claims to have visited Cheesecake Factory for "more than a decade" during his daughters' early years raise questions about the timeline

After facing widespread backlash for his anti-Cheesecake Factory snobbery, former President Barack Obama delivered one of his signature flip-flops, claiming that the high-calorie restaurant chain was his “jam.”

View on X“I am the father of two daughters,” Obama said at a campaign rally Wednesday in Georgia. “Do you think I could have survived their childhood without going to the Cheesecake Factory?”
Obama then began to name-drop other chains frequented by commoners at which he claimed to have previously dined.
“I lived at Chuck E. Cheese and California Pizza Kitchen and the Cheesecake … Factory. That was my jam for about a decade,” he claimed.
When Obama entered the White House in January 2009, his eldest daughter, Malia, was 10 and younger daughter Sasha was 7, raising questions about the timeline surrounding his Cheesecake Factory attendance. The 10-year span either would have had to overlap with the time when he already was a high-profile public figure or to have preceded the birth of his daughters.
Obama was slammed after his hamfisted attempt on Saturday to attack President Donald Trump’s preference for gilded, neoclassical decor. Instead, he attacked the American people who go to mid-level chain eateries.
“He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory,” Obama said of his successor.

View on XBacklash was swift, with many on social media pointing out that Obama, himself, favored the brutalist style of architecture often seen in communist countries with his recently opened presidential library in Chicago.
“I'm still laughing about the guy who spent a billion dollars building this hideous eyesore on Chicago's south side, taking shots at President Trump's design changes at the White House,” said MAGA influencer Vince Langman in an X post.

Led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, some MAGA supporters fired back by showing their solidarity with Cheesecake Factory, which recently rolled out its seasonal Pumpkin and Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecakes.

View on X“This is the man who built the museum that looks like Darth Vader’s tomb,” Bessent said in an interview after he was spotted leaving the establishment.
“I had a great meal, always have a great meal, and I would tell the Martha’s Vineyard set to give it a try,” he added.
The reference seemed to be a direct shot across the bow at Obama, whose former personal chef, Tafari Campbell, died under mysterious circumstances at Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard estate in 2023.
“Human Events Daily” host Jack Posobiec also posted a picture of himself, along with his wife Tanya Tay, and friends Rich and Laura Baris, enjoying a couple’s night out at the restaurant.
“Saddam Hussein really knew how to eat - thanks for the recommendation Obama!” Posobiec said.

View on XPost Millennial and Human Events editor Libby Emmons weighed in with a blistering column pointing out how Obama’s longtime pattern of condescension was symptomatic of deeper ideological problems on the Left.

View on X“This very attitude made me abandon the Democrat Party,” Emmons wrote. “When it became clear that the Dem leaders thought so little of their constituents, the poor, those who didn't consume college degrees and come out after four years with very specific aesthetic and social standards, I realized that I loved my countrymen too much to stand with a party that despised them.”
