Seattle Antifa, anti-Israel activists threaten to block Israeli cargo ships from offloading supplies

The plans come as progressive activists across the country stand in support of Hamas, and against Israel, following the terrorist group's October 7 attack on Israel. Hamas terrorists launched an all out attack Israel at daybreak, slaughtering more than a thousand men, women, and children in the most heinous act of terrorism Israel has seen since 1973.

"Remember all of the 'block the boat' actions that happened in these past ten years? If you're in a port city, it would be a good idea to investigate whether shipments to the Zionist entity are leaving soon," a far-left activist wrote on X, which has since garnered support.

In response to the call-to-action, a Seattle-based Antifa-affiliated social media account, which is dedicated to anti-police hoaxes and propaganda, shared support for the idea, saying "The Israel cargo company ZIM ships to Seattle and all up the West Coast."

In 2021, anti-Israel groups backed by Antifa targeted shipping ports across the United States and blocked the Israeli-owned ZIM cargo ship from offloading shipments in Seattle, including critical medical supplies. The ZIM ship was forced to remain anchored in Elliot Bay near the port in Seattle for more than a week before police physically removed and arrested pro-Hamas activists blocking the terminal.

The "Block The Boat" demonstration was led by Marxist Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant, who has a history of antisemitism. She is also a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) which has been organizing pro-Hamas celebrations across the US, justifying the terrorist attacks on Israel.

In 2018, ZIM entered a partnership with the 2M Alliance, one of the world’s largest shipping organizations, and has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) since February 2021. The company transports products from many different countries all over the globe.

Groups like the Arab Resource and Organizing Center, which worked to stop the ZIM ships across the US and Canada, are part of the antisemitic Boycott, Divest, Sanction movement which is committed to stopping the sale and production of goods from the Jewish state.

Studies have shown that the BDS movement has little to no effect on Israel, but rather, adversely affects retailers in other countries that are attempting to sell the products, as well as Palestinians who work for Israeli companies.

Activists attempted to lure Jews and pro-Israel counter-protesters to the events in 2021, including those in Seattle, in order to assault them. They also assaulted port workers unprovoked. Warnings of the plan were sent to Jewish organizations across the US and Canada. Videos of antisemitic attacks at the events at the hands of Antifa and pro-Palestinian activists were shared across social media during the time.
