Shots rang out in the New York City borough of Queens on Saturday night around 11 pm as two masked shooters fired into a crowd, wounding 10 people.
The shooting incident, part of a rising wave of crime in the city, took place in the Corona neighborhood of Queens at a barbershop and laundromat near 99th Street and 37th Avenue where 40 shell casings have so far been recovered from the scene.

The shooters then get on the pair of mopeds and flee the scene.
"This was a brazen, coordinated attack, for lack of a better word. This is unacceptable, and it has to stop," commented James Essig, the NYPD Chief of Detectives during a press conference. "This is unacceptable, and it has to stop."
Essig also noted that seven of the victims were innocent bystanders who were in the wrong place at the wrong time, while the three others were known members of the Trinitario street gang believed to be the targets of the shooting.
"There's just one common theme, I want to get out there, that's a recurring theme that keeps happening, and it has to stop throughout the city," Essig said.
"That's gang members; that's guns, multiple guns on the scene, scooters being used, masks; and lastly, unintended targets getting hit. This is unacceptable on our streets in New York City, and it has to stop," Essig emphasized again.
None of the 10 shooting victims have life-threatening injuries, and all are expected to make a fully recovery at this time.
