On Sunday, local ABC News station WNEP showed what they are calling "test results" for the upcoming November 5 election during live coverage of a Formula 1 race.

View on XVideo taken from the broadcast showed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris winning with 3,293,712 votes, or 52 percent, to GOP candidate Donald Trump’s 2,997,793, or 47 percent. The test results also showed incumbent Dem Senator Bob Casey Jr receiving 2,295,980 to GOP candidate Dave McCormick’s 1,970,449.
"The numbers seen on the screen were randomly generated test results sent out to help news organizations make sure their equipment is working properly in advance of election night," WNEP said. "The numbers were not reflective of any actual vote count."
The outlet noted that mail-in ballots cannot be opened until 7 am on Election Day, with the counting of votes not starting until 8 pm.
"WNEP regrets the error and apologizes for any confusion. We have taken steps to ensure that it does not happen again."
Pennsylvania is a key battleground state in the 2024 election, with RealClearPolling’s average of polls showing Trump up by less than a point as of Wednesday afternoon.
