Abducted Idaho baby discovered dead after ‘naked and delirious’ father, suspected for wife’s murder, was spotted nearby

That man was 48-year-old Jeremy Albert Best, the 10-month-old baby's father and suspected killer, who allegedly killed his wife Kali Jean Randall, 38, at their home on Thursday night before taking off with Zeke, police said.

The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that individuals who had been hunting east of Idaho Falls on Saturday morning called police to report a man, Jeremy Best, who was "naked and making odd statements." The caller stated that Jeremy was on the side of the road in a sleeping bag.

Upon arrival, deputies located Jeremy's vehicle, a black Chevrolet SUV, down an embankment off the roadway. They found baby Zeke deceased at the scene. Jeremy was apprehended and transported to the Bonneville County Jail. He was booked on an outstanding homicide warrant in Teton County, according to the statement.

Hours before allegedly killing his wife on Thursday, Jeremy was arrested around noon after walking into a local general store in Swan Valley completely nude.

Surveillance footage obtained by East Idaho News shows a naked Jeremy grabbing a cigarette and slouching on the store counter before he was escorted out of the building by several people.

Bonneville County deputies arrived on scene and Jeremy was transported to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance. He was treated for medical and mental health concerns and was released, police said.

Upon his release, Best went home and allegedly killed his wife before kidnapping and killing his child.

The Teton County Sheriff's Office said that they received a 911 call from inside the home around 11:40 p.m. The dispatcher heard arguing on the line. Deputies discovered Kali Jean Randall deceased upon arrival.

On Friday at 4:00 a.m., an Amber Alert was issued for baby Zeke which named Jeremy as an "armed and very dangerous homicide and kidnapping suspect," the Teton County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities said that Jeremy will remain incarcerated until arraignment before the court.
