President Joe Biden’s dog, Commander, has been found to be biting multiple people around the White House. The attacks totaled at least seven incidents within a few months.
The German Shepherd bit several secret service agents between October 2022 and January 2023, according to a report from the New York Post.
The series of incidents come after similar problems arose with the Biden family’s other dog, Major, that happened in 2021. The dog was later rehomed.
Major was also a German Shepherd. Neither in the first nor second instances did the Biden family voluntarily disclose the information regarding the dog bites.
Jen Psaki, the previous White House Press Secretary, refused to comment about the incidents with Major at the time, and did not provide a detailed explanation of those events in an interview with MSNBC.
Biden reportedly even went as far as to say the agent lied about Major biting one of the agents.
In the worst reported biting incident from Commander, the Biden dog clamped down on the arm and leg of a secret service agent on November 3, 2022.
Unprovoked, the dog came down a stairwell where the agent was sitting and bit the agent on the tricep, per the report. When the agent stood up, Commander then went for the quad muscle.
The agent was forced to use a steel cart to prevent further attack and reported “a considerable amount of pain” from the bite from statements obtained from Judicial Watch.
The agent was sent to the hospital and was placed on restricted duty for several days.
Another agent wrote to the injured secret service agent, “What a joke … if it wasn’t their dog he would already have been put down – freaking clown needs a muzzle.”
Just a few days later on Nov. 10, First Lady Jill Biden was walking the dog around the White House and another agent was attacked.
“I saw Commander exit the Kennedy Garden and sprint towards me. I immediately stopped and put my hands up. Commander then bit me on left [thigh] and then ran back towards the First Lady,” the agent said in an email to administrators.
Even after all earlier incidents, an attack occurred when Joe Biden decided to let the dog off its leash on the White House lawn.
President Biden allowed Commander to be let off the leash to “run free.” The dog subsequently bit an agent whose “injuries included a bite to the left forearm resulting in bruising and approximately a 1 1/2 cm cut and a bite to the right hand.”
