On Thursday pro-Palestinian protestors occupied the Capitol office of Sen Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) to demand a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, the latter of which launched a war in the group after the Palestinian terror group launched an attack against the nation on October 7.
The protestors, who sat on the floor and wore shirts and carried signs that read "veterans against genocide," chanted "hey hey, ho ho, genocide Gillibrand has got to go," and "rise up for Palestine."

"Veterans demand a ceasefire. Veterans demand H. Res 786," one sign read, referring to the proposed House Resolution for an "immediate deescalation and cease-fire in Israel and occupied Palestine."

View on XThe resolution "urges the Biden administration to immediately call for and facilitate deescalation and a cease-fire to urgently end the current violence; and calls upon the Biden administration to promptly send and facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza."
In October, over 100 people calling for a ceasefire were arrested outside of Gillibrand’s New York City office, according to Spectrum News NY 1.
On October 11, Gillibrand expressed support for calls for military aid to Israel, including the replenishment of Iron Dome air defense system missiles.
"I strongly condemn the unprovoked terrorist attack launched by Hamas and stand shoulder to shoulder with the Israeli people," Gillibrand said. "My heart goes out to the people of Israel whose lives have been torn apart by these savage acts of brutality. Throughout my career, I have worked with my colleagues in Congress to deliver hundreds of millions of dollars for Israel’s defense systems, and now that work will be more critical than ever."
"Today, I’m calling for more funding and resources to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome and for evacuation flights out of Israel to help Americans return home. I’m also calling on the Biden administration to swiftly deliver to Congress any supplemental funding requests to aid Israel. I’m also fighting to increase funding for at-risk non-profit institutions, including synagogues, to make security enhancements that will allow New Yorkers to gather safely. This is a moment to come together in unity and show the world that we are unwavering in our stance against antisemitism and hate."
