A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Jewish man, Paul Kessler, who was hit in the head while counter-protesting a pro-Palestine demonstration.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department announced on Thursday that Loay Abdelfattah Alnaji was arrested that morning in connection with the death of Paul Kessler.
Alnaji, a Muslim computer science professor who teaches at California State University Northridge and Moorpark College, was booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on involuntary manslaughter charges.
His bail has been set at $1 million.
The 69-year-old Kessler was struck in the head while waving an Israel flag on November 5 in protest of a pro-Palestinian demonstration.
Kessler was seen lying on the sidewalk in a pool of blood, and was rushed to the hospital. The medical examiner's office ruled his death a homicide.
Alnaji is involved with multiple Islam groups and has publically vocalized support for Hamas terrorists, according to his social media accounts. The California professor is involved with the Islamic Society of Simi Valley and was the faculty advisor of the Moorpark College Muslim Student Association, which his son was an officer of.
