Florida Gov. and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis has let go of more than a third of his campaign staff.
The latest round of layoffs comes as he attempts to reboot following a less-than-successful first few weeks.

"Following a top-to-bottom review of our organization, we have taken additional, aggressive steps to streamline operations and put Ron DeSantis in the strongest position to win this primary and defeat Joe Biden," campaign manager Generra Peck said in a statement. "Gov. DeSantis is going to lead the Great American Comeback and we're ready to hit the ground running as we head into an important month of the campaign."
DeSantis' presidential run got off to a bit of a rocky start, and before long there were calls to rethink their strategy. Earlier this month, nearly a dozen staffers were let go in an effort to reign in spending.
Despite bringing in $20 million during the first six weeks after his launch, DeSantis soon found himself in a position where his most loyal donors had already maxed out, and funds were being spent on a rather large team. His campaign manager was allegedly warned that having so many people on would burn through the cash too quickly, but she "wanted to hear none of it."
Recent polls still show DeSantis in second place, behind longtime frontrunner former president Donald Trump, however the Florida governor's closest competitor, Vivek Ramaswamy, is gaining ground.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
