BREAKING: Devon Archer arrives at Capitol Hill for closed door deposition to reveal what he knows about Joe and Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals
He is expected to give testimony regarding the Biden family’s overseas business dealing for around five hours behind closed doors.
Former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer arrived on Capitol Hill Monday morning to give testimony to the House Oversight Committee in a closed-door meeting.
According to the Daily Mail, Archer arrived 15 minutes late to his 10 am deposition and remained silent when reporters shouted questions at him.
Archer was revealed to be the subject of a letter sent by the Department of Justice to the Southern District of New York on Saturday, asking for a date to be determined when Archer must report to prison to serve time for a 2018 conviction on charges to defraud a Native American tribe. Archer is still appealing the conviction, as he has been doing since the ruling. Archer's 1-year sentence was upheld by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Archer's attorney said that Archer intended to report to Congress on Monday as planned. “We are aware of speculation that the Department of Justice’s weekend request to have Mr. Archer report to prison is an attempt by the Biden administration to intimidate him in advance of his meeting with the House Oversight Committee,” Archer's attorney said in a statement.
"To be clear, Mr. Archer does not agree with that speculation. In any case, Mr. Archer will do what he has planned to do all along, which is to show up on Monday and to honestly answer the questions that are put to him by the Congressional investigators."
On Sunday evening, the DOJ sent another letter stating that this prison date should be for after his Congressional testimony.
"The Government," the letter states, "understands that the defendant is scheduled to provide testimony to Congress tomorrow, July 31, 2023. To be clear the Government does not request (and has never requested) that the defendant surrender before his Congressional testimony. As the Court knows, to surrender and commence his sentence of imprisonment, the defendant first must be designated to a federal facility by the Bureau of Prisons—a process that can take several weeks or months after the Court sets a surrender date."
In June, it was revealed that Archer is expected to testify about at least two dozen phone calls then-VIce President Joe Biden had with his son’s overseas business partners.
During meetings that Hunter held with overseas business associates, the First Son allegedly included his father when he was Vice President. Hunter would put his father on speakerphone to participate in business dealings.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
