Rep. Harriet Hageman, a Wyoming Republican, has won in the open-seat race to replace retiring GOP Sen. Cynthia Lummis.
Hageman, a former trial attorney, ousted Rep. Liz Cheney, a top Trump critic, in the 2022 GOP primary. She has made a name for herself during her two terms in the US House as an incisive interrogator on the House Judiciary Committee and staunch conservative.
“I know Harriet well, and she is a TOTAL WINNER!” President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Harriet has ALWAYS delivered for Wyoming, and will continue to do so in the United States Senate,” he added. “She will fight tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Advance American Energy DOMINANCE, Champion our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Support our Incredible Military/Veterans, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”
With only 1 percent of the vote in, Hageman already had a commanding margin against her challenger, Democrat James Byrd, and was projected to win the seat handily in the reliably red state, the New York Times reported.
