The House has passed an $858 billion defense bill, known as the National Defense Authorization Act, which would see an end to vaccine mandates for military personnel. The bill now heads to the Senate.
The bill has led to some controversy due to its rescinding of the Covid vaccine mandate for military personnel. On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that the move by Republicans in Congress to scrap the mandate is a "mistake."

The $858 billion plan includes a 4.6 percent pay raise for troops, and an extra nearly $19 billion to offset the impact of inflation, according to the Associated Press.
A number of Senate Republicans have signed a letter stating that they would vote against the NDAA if it does not include the removal of vaccine provisions.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy threatened to axe the bill if it did not include the removal of such measures.
