BREAKING: Joe Biden says ‘the threat to democracy must be defended,’ messes up Laken Riley’s name in confused, angry SOTU speech

He began his speech talking not about the United States, but about Ukraine, saying "It's we who face an unprecedented moment in the history of the Union. And yes, our purpose tonight is to wake up the Congress and alert the American people that this is no ordinary moment either."

"What makes our moment rare is that freedom and democracy are under attack both at home and overseas at the very same time. Overseas, Putin of Russia is on the march, invading Ukraine and sowing chaos throughout Europe and beyond. If anybody in this room thinks Putin will stop at Ukraine, I assure you he will not," Biden said, demanding Congress fund this foreign war.

He brought up Donald Trump only three minutes into the speech, lambasting him for saying that NATO members needed to support themselves and defend their own nations if they wanted support from the US. Biden claimed that the US would "not walk away" from Ukraine. He promised that American troops would not be sent to Ukraine.

"They're not asking for American soldiers," he said. "In fact, or no American soldiers war in Ukraine and I'm determined to keep it that way."

Biden harped on January 6, claiming that those who state that it was not a massive threat to democracy were the problem. "We must be honest, the threat to democracy must be defended," he said.

He peddled the same narrative that has been disproven again and again, saying that those who entered the capitol on January 6, 2021 said "they'd come to stop the peaceful transfer of power over the will of the people." Biden claimed what so many Democrats have said, which is that "the plots to steal the election posed the greatest threat to US democracy since the Civil War."

Much of what Biden spoke about was how to get more funding for healthcare, prescription drugs, and abortion. He vowed to federally legalize abortion, and brought up his plans to further fund the medical-industrial complex by providing more funding for health research and to lower drug costs.

It was 40 minutes before he addressed the border, blaming Republicans for not passing a bill that would have given $60 billion to Ukraine with only $20 billion spent on the US border. As Biden noted, the primary purpose of the bill was to hire more border agents and judges who would process illegal immigrants into the US faster.

When he did mention Laken Riley, who was killed by an illegal immigrant in Georgia, he called her Lincoln Riley instead.

And he promised, "transgender Americans, I have your back."

On the war in Israel, Biden attempted to walk a fine line between not offending those who support Israel nor those who support Hamas and Palestinians. In practice, he promised more aid to Gaza and Hamas, said US troops would not be on the ground, and demanded that there be the creation of a Palestinian state on Israel's doorstep. This after Hamas of Gaza invaded Israel and massacred 1,200 people. Biden has faced criticism on the left for not being more supportive of Hamas and Palestinians.

Biden also promised to "harness the promise of AI to protect us from peril."

"Above all, I see a future for all Americans. I see a country for all Americans. I'll always be president for all Americans. Because I believe in America. I believe in you. The American people are the reason we've never been more optimistic about our future than I am now. So let's build a future together and let's remember who we are we are the United States of America."
