Judge Arthur Engoron has revoked permission for 2024 Donald Trump to make his own closing argument in his New York City civil fraud trial, according to the Associated Press.
The former president and his team had been discussing the possibility with Judge Arthur Engoron. According to CNN, sources revealed that Trump's lawyers had asked Engoron to allow him to speak during the closing arguments, and the judge said there would be restrictions regarding what could be said.
Trump refused to agree to any pre-conditions as recently as Tuesday night. Engoron revoked permission after Trump's lawyers rejected the judge's insistence that Trump stick to "relevant" matters in the case.
The case was brought forth by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is now seeking $370 million in damages from the 2024 GOP frontrunner, his business, and his family, up from the $250 million previously requested.
A press release at the launch of the lawsuit alleges that Trump overstated his net worth with various different means such as inflating the value of his real estate.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
