On Wednesday, Fani Willis' lover Nathan Wade testified during a hearing on whether the Fulton County district attorney's improper relationship with him should disqualify her from overseeing Donald Trump's Georgia election interference case.
He admitted that he used his business credit card to pay for trips he and the DA took together, and that Willis reimbursed him in cash.

"She did," he answered, explaining that the DA gave him cash for her share of all the trips they went on together.

View on XWade noted that one of their vacations, a March 2023 trip to Belize, had been a "birthday gift," and thus he did not pay anything for it, adding that travel charges were billed to him for "safety reasons" due to Willis' position.
Allegations of Wade and Willis' alleged impropriety were first brought to light in a court filing by one of Trump's co-defendants, Michael Roman. His lawyer, Ashleigh Merchant, claimed that Willis and Wade "have been engaged in an improper, clandestine personal relationship during the pendency of this case, which has resulted in the special prosecutor, and, in turn, the district attorney, profiting significantly from this prosecution at the expense of the taxpayers."
Willis has since admitted that she and Wade had a "personal relationship," though she claimed it developed after he was brought on as special prosecutor and "never involved direct or indirect financial benefit" to her.
