View on XThe incident was confirmed by DeSantis press secretary Bryan Griffin, who said the team is grateful for "the prayers and well wishes of the nation for [DeSantis'] continued protection while on the campaign trail," according to NBC News.
A call for the accident, which occurred on Interstate 75 in Chattanooga reportedly came around 8:15 am and involved rear-end collisions that solely occurred with government vehicles.
"The motorcade came up on slow traffic and the lead vehicle had to brake quickly, which caused a rear-end collision involving the other vehicles," read a police statement. "All the vehicles involved were government vehicles accompanying Governor DeSantis and his team to his scheduled event."
This news comes after the DeSantis campaign booted around a dozen staffers earlier this month. The campaign is well funded; it has fundraised a massive $150 million for DeSantis' run thus far, $130 million of which has been sent to allied super PACs.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
