BREAKING: Trump and Biden to meet in Oval Office on Wednesday

"At President Biden’s invitation, President Biden and President-elect Trump will meet in the Oval Office on Wednesday," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced in a statement.

Such meetings between the sitting president and the president-elect are a traditional gesture following the election. Trump, who secured a landslide victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, will be inaugurated for his second term on January 20.

In his post-election address, President Biden pledged to cooperate with Trump’s team and promised to ensure a "peaceful and orderly transition" of power.

"For over 200 years, America has carried on the greatest experiment in self-government in the history of the world," Biden said, adding, “where the people, the people vote and choose their own leaders and they do it peacefully. And where in a democracy, the will of the people always prevails."
