Former President Donald Trump released a statement on Thursday after the Supreme Court's decision to block President Biden's vaccine mandate.
"The Supreme Court has spoken," wrote Trump, "confirming what we all knew: Biden's disastrous mandates are unconstitutional. Biden promised to shut down the virus, not the economy but he has failed miserably on both—and mandates would have further destroyed the economy. We are proud of the Supreme Court for not backing down."

The mandate, which would have impacted 80 million Americans, required that companies with over 100 employees make it mandatory for workers to be vaccinated, or be subjected to weekly testing.
The mandate drew fierce criticism from politicians, businesses, and citizens alike, with many even going so far as to file suit.
As the Associated Press reports, the conservative majority on the court determined that the Biden administration "overstepped its authority" when it sought to mandate vaccines and strict testing regiments on employees of large companies.
The president has been a vocal advocate for COVID-19 vaccines and their efficacy, but has fiercely attacked mandates as being anti-freedom of choice.
"Some people aren't taking it; the ones that get very sick and go to the hospital are the ones that don't take the vaccine, but it's still their choice. And if you take the vaccine, you're protected," Trump said in December.
